Music plays a very important role in the life of the church and that’s why our choir members, cantors and I take this very seriously. As a child growing up in the Catholic Church, I remember the thing that drew me to the church were the hymns and music. Very quickly, the beautiful melodies and harmonies introduced me to the scripture and lyrics which sends up praise and glory to God. In my opinion, music in the church is not only an art but an integral part of worship.
We believe in providing music for worship for the whole parish. We use a variety of musical styles from chant, to classic church literature to contemporary hymns. The Resurrection Choir meets once a week from September to June on Thursday evenings from 7-9pm. We sing at the 11am mass on Sunday mornings. Regular attendance and commitment is essential and expected. You do not have to be able to read music, however basic singing skills are sought.
